GreenZim Ventures P/L t/a GreenTEC Energy was registered in 2012 and began active operations in 2015. It is a waste-to-energy company operating in Zimbabwe specializing in the construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of biogas systems for both domestic and commercial.The company’s main products include a diversity of biogas systems for the generation of raw biogas, upgraded biogas (bio-methane), heat, and electricity. The company also builds specialized bio-digesters for use in wastewater treatment and management especially for cluster housing projects wishing to treat sewage with biogas recovery as an added advantage.GreenTEC Energy is also a leading supplier and installer of biogas appliances including biogas cookers and burners, refrigerators, and freezers, water heaters, and infra-red poultry heaters that run on biogas. GreenTEC Energy’s operations complement the Zimbabwe government’s efforts towards achieving sustainable development and creating a climate-resilient nation. This is also in line with Sustainable Development Goals 3 and 7.Key business milestones1. In 2015 GreenTEC Energy was short-listed as one of the 30 finalists in a smart energy contest organised by the Development Reality Institute in conjunction with UNICEF2. In 2019, GreenTEC Energy participated in an innovation challenge organized by the International Labour Organisation and its partners under the Green EnterPRIZE Development and Innovation in Zimbabwe project and was rated the best renewable energy company in a contest in which more than 20 similar companies participated.3. In 2021 GreenTEC Energy was accepted by the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency and currently enjoys its technical and business development support to date4. In 2023 GreenTEC Energy implemented its first bio-digester project outside Zimbabwe. The bio-digester is for sewage treatment and is in Lubumbashi, DRC.5. In 2023, GreenTEC Energy constructed 46 biogas digesters in Zibagwe RDC (Kwekwe Rural) under a project funded by Gender Links Zimbabwe.6. In 2024, GreenTEC Energy constructed and installed biogas digesters at selected communal milk collection centers under a project funded by USAID Grant;
